Lord, I Hope This Day Is Good

Fortune, Walker, Rogers & Isaacs' arrangement of the Don Williams standard turns a simple daily request into something closer to an honest, unpolished prayer — 'I'm feeling empty and misunderstood... I should be thankful, Lord, I know I should' admits the gap between what the singer knows they ought to feel and what they actually feel, rather than skipping straight to gratitude. That kind of honesty inside prayer echoes the plainness of the psalms more than it sounds like a polished worship chorus.

'You've been the king since the dawn of time' grounds the request in who God already is rather than treating the ask as a gamble, and Psalm 118:24's 'this is the day that the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it' sits quietly behind the title's hope for a good day — not a demand that every day be easy, but a request made to someone whose faithfulness, Lamentations 3:22-23's mercies 'new every morning,' doesn't depend on how the day actually turns out.
