Eagle's Wings

Hillsong United's “Eagle's Wings” is a short, quiet prayer of waiting. It starts with a simple statement, “Here I am waiting, abide in me, I pray. Here I am longing for You.” The singer asks to be hidden in God's love and brought “to my knees,” and says the aim is to “know Jesus more and more.”

The second part turns the requests into a plea for God to take the lead. “Come live in me, all my life, take over, come breathe in me.” The result of that closeness is the final promise, “I will rise on eagle's wings.” The song has very few words, so the repetition lets the singer stay on each request. It does not describe events or give a story, only a posture of waiting and a hope for strength to come.

The promise of rising on eagle's wings is Isaiah 40:31. Abiding is from John 15:4, and being hidden in love matches the prayer of Psalm 17:8.
