Worthy Is The Lamb

Hillsong United's "Worthy Is the Lamb" takes its title and central image directly from Revelation, where every creature in heaven cries out that the slain Lamb is worthy to receive power, honor, and glory. The verses stay close to that same scene, thanking Jesus specifically for the cross and "the nail pierced hands," then widening into the throne-room picture — crowned with many crowns, high and lifted up, seated in victory rather than defeat. It's built almost entirely out of two ideas held together: the cost paid at the cross and the reign that followed it, sin and shame on one side, forgiveness and embrace on the other. There isn't much narrative arc here, no build from doubt to certainty — the whole thing sits in one register, gratitude turning immediately into praise, which suits a song whose only real job is repeating what the whole of heaven is already singing.
