Run At The Giant

Jack Cassidy borrows David's fight directly — "I can face my Goliath, I can run at the giant" — but spends most of the song on what happens before the stone is thrown: "dark sleeps like a monster under my bed... for every single time I thought I was dead, You were with me." That's the private terror underneath 1 Samuel 17:32's version of David, the one nobody else in the camp was willing to face.

"You're the voice that whispers over and over, I am with you before the fight and after it's over" reworks the confidence behind 1 Samuel 17:45's declaration — David going out not in his own strength but in the name of the Lord. Cassidy never claims the giant gets smaller; the song's whole turn is that running at it and being afraid of it aren't mutually exclusive, as long as the running happens anyway.
