Love

JJ Heller keeps "Love" to a small handful of images rather than a developed story, opening mid-memory — "it seems like only yesterday you were just a child at play, now you're all grown up inside of me" — and "oh, how fast those moments flee" names the pace of change as its own kind of ache.

"Once we watched a lazy world go by, now the days seem to fly" repeats the same contrast between then and now, unhurried versus rushed, and "life is brief, but when it's gone, love goes on and on" states the song's entire argument in four short lines rather than building toward it slowly.

The short chorus, "love will live, love will last, love goes on and on," repeats the same claim in slightly different words each time, treating repetition itself as a kind of proof. The closing verse returns to the opening image once more, now doubling its final line — "life is brief, but when it's gone, love goes on and on" said twice — letting the song end exactly where it started, on the one claim it was never trying to complicate.
