Nehemiah Stand Strong

Jon Egan borrows his whole framework from an Old Testament building project — standing "on this wall," refusing to come down no matter what it costs, echoing Nehemiah's own refusal to abandon Jerusalem's rebuilding for anyone who tried to distract him. "Ruins and rubble will be a great mighty wall," Egan sings, treating the wreckage itself as raw material rather than a reason to quit.

His confidence isn't in his own strength to keep building — it's in being sent: "knowing my Father is for me, knowing my Father has called me, I'm not coming off this wall." Egan names the opposition plainly too: "the enemy comes like a thief to steal and destroy," an obstacle expected, not treated as a surprise setback.

Nehemiah's own words in Nehemiah 6:3 — "I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down" — sit directly behind Egan's refrain, and Nehemiah 4:14 records him telling the builders to fight for their families rather than fear the threats surrounding them. Egan's repeated "I believe You" turns that ancient building project into a present-tense declaration of the same stubborn trust.
