Mr. Pretender

KB hands the microphone to sin itself, and the result is one of the more unsettling conceits in Christian rap: the enemy speaking in first person, smooth and reasonable, calling himself Mr. Pretender. He opens by mocking the believer who thinks he's finished with him, then spends the verses making his pitch — pleasure as a sworn creed, "do what thou will," the suggestion that a God who forbids things can't really be good. He plays counselor too, whispering divorce into a minister's ear and promising that private compromise can coexist with public faith. The chorus turns the tables: even the deceiver has to admit he thought he knew his host, and that the whole relationship was a fantasy he was living inside. The final verse is where the mask slips — he brags about the wages he pays, jokes about a condom that can't shield anyone from the wrath of God, and then names his own defeat at the cross, where Christ "deceived the deceiver" and left him bleeding on the ground while slaves walked free. The track ends with the plainest possible confession: I am the deceitfulness of sin.
