(Kirk Franklin feat. Davido)
[Verse 1: Kirk Franklin]
I find myself lying to myself more and more
I'm so confused, what do I do?
I do what's wrong instead of right, and every night
I'm back to You, with my back to You
These devils try to break me down
And when I try to pray, can Heaven still hear what I say?
I lose hope, hope in You
But I keep it to myself 'cause no one cares what you go through
But my hope is that You
That You see me for my heart, and You don't judge me for my truth
Hope is You
[Pre-Chorus]
See us, free us
Love us, not judge us
We're broken, Yah, we're broken
Yah, come pull us through, hope is You
[Chorus]
Oh my, oh my, oh my, hope is in You
Oh my, oh my, oh my, hope is in You
Oh my, oh my, oh my, hope is in You
My hope is in You
[Verse 2: Davido]
I give my all to You, I'm holding on to You
Whenever I struggle in my hustle, You're my bubble
When I don't know what to do, I'm, I'm looking to You
Make I no go enter one chance
Hallelujah meje meje
Oluwa ti gbe mi leke
I no fit o, fit to seke
I just want to kore dele
Hallelujah meje meje
Oluwa ti gbe mi leke
I no fit o, fit to seke
Make my people jere mi
[Chorus]
Oh my, oh my, oh my, hope is in You
Oh my, oh my, oh my, hope is in You
Oh my, oh my, oh my, hope is in You
My hope is in You
[Bridge]
Yah, Your people hurting
Yah, Your people dying
Can You hear us crying?
Oh my, oh my, oh my, oh my
Open up the heavens
Shower down Your blessings
You make life worth living
Oh my, oh my, oh my, oh my
(Everybody sing!)
Yah, Your people hurting
Yah, Your people dying
Can You hear us crying?
Oh my, oh my, oh my, oh my
Open up the heavens
Shower down Your blessings
You make life worth living
Oh my, oh my, oh my, hope is You
[Outro / Pre-Chorus & Chorus]
See us, free us
Love us, not judge us
We're broken, Yah, we're broken
Yah, come pull us through, hope is You
Oh my, oh my, oh my, hope is in You
Oh my, oh my, oh my, hope is in You
Oh my, oh my, oh my, hope is in You
My hope is in You
Oh my, oh my, oh my, hope is in You
Oh my, oh my, oh my, hope is in You
Oh my, oh my, oh my, hope is in You
My hope is in You

Song Meaning
The song opens with a confession of inner contradiction: lying to oneself, doing wrong instead of right, and turning back to God with a back turned. That image of approaching while retreating captures the tension the lyrics keep circling. The singer wonders whether prayer still reaches heaven and admits to losing hope, yet keeps that struggle private because no one seems to care. The pre-chorus turns that ache into a plea: see us, free us, love us, not judge us, and the repeated line about being broken becomes the hinge of the whole song. Davido's verse shifts into a more resilient register, holding on and looking to God in the middle of struggle, with Yoruba phrases of thanksgiving woven in. The bridge widens the frame from personal doubt to communal suffering, asking whether God hears people who are hurting and dying, then asking heaven to open and blessings to pour down. What holds the song together is the chorus's simple insistence that hope is in You, repeated until it sounds less like a slogan and more like a decision made in the dark.
