Blessed Are The Poor

Land of Color builds this song directly on the Beatitudes, opening with the line that gives it its title and pairing poverty of spirit with a kingdom that belongs to the brokenhearted. The second verse turns to the humble who flee the world's applause and the pure in heart who search for God's face, and each stanza lands on the same plain confession: He's all we need. A bridge gathers the scattered pieces into a shared hope — out of all the wreckage comes a common destiny, and every empty hand reaching out is asked to be filled with eternity. The song doesn't pretend the road is easy; it names sleepless nights, days of confusion, and the struggle to get along with one another, then asks the listener to hold fast to the Savior and join the saints and angels in song. The repeated refrain works almost like a breath prayer, wearing the phrase down until it settles. Its folk-tinged restraint keeps the focus on the gathered community of the needy rather than any single voice, and the closing image is of empty hands still lifted, waiting to be filled.
