Claim The Blood

Redemption gets a location, almost like a point on a map: "This is where redemption starts," "where the cycle stops," where "every scheme of darkness ends." The verses keep returning to a Savior on a sinners' cross, mercy flowing "from the wounds of healing hands," and "the fury of the Father's heart / To bring His children home again."

The chorus is a declaration rather than a request: "I claim the blood of Jesus / For every daughter every son and future generation," naming Father, Son and Holy Spirit and announcing that "every curse of shame" is defeated "only by the blood of Jesus." A Passover image, "Red is painted on our door / Death will only pass us by," ties that claim to Israel's rescue in Egypt. The bridge moves past the cross, since the "high King of Heaven / Didn't stay in the ground," and resurrection power is called "our inheritance now."

Exodus 12:13 stands behind the painted door, Ephesians 1:7 speaks of redemption through His blood, and Luke 24:6 supplies the empty grave. The repeated chorus suits a family or congregation praying over its coming generations.
