Rise And Run

New Life Worship quotes Isaiah 60:1 almost directly as the opening instruction: "get up, shine your light, the glory of the Lord is risen on you." The prophecy's original call to a defeated, exiled Jerusalem becomes, in the song, a call to present action rather than only future hope.

"You'll light up every shadow" reaches for Matthew 5:16's command to let light shine "before men, that they may see your good works." "North to the south, east to the west... we're running, running, running" widens the song's scope geographically, treating the instruction to shine as something meant to move rather than stay fixed in one place.
