Tremble / What a Beautiful Name

Phil Wickham's mashup spends its first half almost entirely on one repeated claim — "Your name is a light that the shadows can't deny, Your name cannot be overcome" — before "Jesus" even becomes a chorus word instead of just a subject. The name itself, not a description of what Jesus did, carries the whole opening section.

The transition into "What a Beautiful Name" shifts from power to identity: "the Name of Jesus Christ my King... nothing compares to this." Then the bridge finally narrates the event the first half had been building toward without naming it: "death could not hold You, the veil tore before You... for You are raised to life again."

Paul's hymn about a name above every name, at which every knee will bow, gives the mashup's climax its exact vocabulary — "yours is the name above all names." Peter's declaration that there's no other name under heaven by which people can be saved, and Paul's claim that Christ disarmed the powers and authorities, triumphing over them at the cross, both back up the song's confidence that this specific name is the one that makes darkness tremble.
