Worth The Wait

Phil Wickham builds this Christmas song around the old carol refrain "Noel, noel, noel," letting the phrase circle back at the start and finish like a bell that won't stop ringing. Between those repetitions, the verses trace a deliberate arc: a God who keeps His promise and sends His Son into darkness, a host of angels crying glory, a star marking holy ground, and the Creator of the world lying in a manger. From there the song moves past the cradle toward the cross — the child will heal the broken, take back what the enemy stole, die so we don't have to, and rise to make a way through. The repeated line "Jesus, You are worth the wait" carries the weight of Advent longing, holding patient expectation and confident joy in the same breath. The final verses widen the invitation to every heart and every knee, naming Him King of every king whose reign never ends. It's a song that treats the nativity not as a standalone moment but as the opening movement of a rescue story that runs all the way to an empty tomb.
