The song's whole strategy is refusing the logic of scarring as disqualification; "even a million scars doesn't change whose you are" argues that identity is anchored somewhere the damage can't reach, no matter how much damage there is. The second verse gets specific about the fear underneath the shame — being loved for who you actually are, not a cleaned-up version, and being haunted by regret in the dark — which is a more precise diagnosis than most songs in this genre attempt. The bridge makes the theological move explicit: "the God who made the stars is the God that made your heart," pairing cosmic-scale creation with intimate, personal creation to argue the same care applies to both.
