Cure

"Cure" keeps its object undefined for almost the entire song rather than naming what's actually being searched for — "I've never seen it, no, I've never heard it, I've never been it, but I'm searching for it" repeats four times without ever specifying what "it" is. The search itself, not the destination, is what the song describes in detail.

"Slowly drifting out to sea, away from the tide, and a darkness surrounds me... I'm out of hope, I'm out of strength this time" names the starting condition plainly, with no qualifying language softening how depleted it sounds. "A breath of air, a calm that surrounds me, but I want to know how to let it inside" admits that relief has arrived before the singer knows how to actually receive it.

"It gives me peace, it frees this pain I hide" finally supplies a description of what the cure does, even without naming its source directly, and the single repeated word closing the song — "cure, cure, cure, cure" — treats the search itself as evidence that whatever it is, it's real enough to keep chasing.
