Plumb sings this whole song from outside a door she hasn't walked through yet — "I'm too afraid to show," she admits twice, watching someone she loves "standing in the dark alone, waiting there for me to come back." The hesitation isn't hidden; it's the whole tension of the song.

Her language turns increasingly desperate rather than casual: "I'm crashing like a tidal wave," "these tears are turning me to rust," and the title itself becomes a confession — "without you, I'm stranded." By the final line, the fear finally breaks: "I'm not afraid to show."

James 4:8 promises that drawing near to God brings him near in return, and the prodigal in Luke 15:20 is spotted "while he was still a long way off" by a father already watching for him.
