Remember Me
Song Meaning
"Drops of blood from the hand of Jesus fall on my sins, cover all," begins this short worship song, and the picture is exact and personal. The second line explains it: "He receives the cross that I deserve." That sentence names the whole exchange, and it is close to Isaiah 53:5 and 1 Peter 1:19 on redemption through Christ's blood.
Grace gets a short statement of its own, "all for grace, we're now saved," in the spirit of Ephesians 2:8. Then the singer goes to the foot of the cross to pray, and the prayer is the title: "Jesus, remember me."
Those words are the plea of the criminal beside Jesus in Luke 23:42. The bridge makes the connection explicit with "when You come in Your kingdom... remember me," echoing the thief's request. At about 567 characters, the lyric is brief and repeats its lines, so the whole song works as one prayer, repeated, for mercy.
Drops of blood
From the hand of Jesus fall
On my sins, cover all
He receives
The cross that I deserve
All for grace, we're now saved
At the foot of the cross I pray
Jesus remember me
Jesus remember me
...
Drops of blood
From the hand of Jesus fall
On my sins, cover all
He receives
The cross that I deserve
All for grace, we're now saved
At the foot of the cross I pray
Jesus remember me
Jesus remember me
...
Oh oh oh...
When You come
In Your Kingdom
Oh oh oh...
Remember me
Remember me
At the foot of the cross I pray
Jesus remember me
Jesus remember me
...
