It's Good (Love's Not Safe)

Sidewalk Prophets' “It's Good (Love's Not Safe)” borrows its subtitle from C. S. Lewis's description of Aslan, who is not safe but good. The song begins with dark clouds gathering and every reason to back down, with excuses running out, and says that now is no time to leave.

The singer says that walking the line and getting by only keeps you blind, and if you truly want to see you have to turn and face the wind and let the storm begin. The chorus says love is not safe at all, it might let you fall, it is not easy, but it is good. Love will take your time and may feel unkind, and it will break you, but it is good. The second verse says it is okay to start again, you have to lose to win, and the place where the end begins is where you find yourself, losing control and finally letting go. The bridge brings in the cross, saying that everything you need in life was given by his sacrifice, and the singer will give it all to Christ. The last chorus changes the pronoun, so it is Christ who is not safe, who might let you fall and who will break you, yet he is good.
