Joy

Switch builds its version of "Joy" around the familiar Advent hymn, keeping the opening call for earth to receive her King and the repeated line about heaven and nature singing. What stands out is how the song lingers on that phrase, stacking the repetition until it feels less like a chorus and more like a congregation refusing to stop. The second stanza shifts to the reign of Christ, describing a rule marked by truth and grace, with nations proving the glories of His righteousness and the wonders of His love. From there the lyrics move into a newer refrain that names the reason for the celebration directly: Jesus Christ is with us, He has come to save us. That section frames the arrival as heaven's gift of freedom reaching down, tying the seasonal joy to rescue rather than mere festivity. The hymn text returns at the end, and the closing repetitions of "heaven and nature sing" carry the song out on a note of unbroken praise, holding together the ancient words and the simple confession at its center.
