Fill Me Up God - Overflow

Song Meaning

Tasha Cobbs built this live medley almost entirely out of one request, repeated until it becomes an act of worship on its own: fill me up. The trade she names in the opening lines — 'you provide the fire, I'll provide the sacrifice' — casts worship as a two-way exchange rather than a performance, borrowing the shape of Old Testament altar offerings where God supplied the fire and the worshiper brought only what they had.

'Fill me up till I overflow, I wanna run over' echoes Psalm 23:5's image of a cup running over in God's presence, and Ephesians 5:18's command to be filled with the Spirit sits just as clearly behind the plea. What makes the recording work as more than a chant is its live setting — Cobbs is heard coaching the room ('raise it, raise it,' 'lift your heads and say it') into the same request, so the overflow the lyric asks for is meant to be visible in real time, not just felt privately.

Come on, let the sound of worship be released from your lips tonight

Come on, raise it now Oh, that's good y'all, raise it, raise it

You provide the fire, I'll provide the sacrifice

You provide the spirit, And I will open up inside

You provide the fire, I'll provide the sacrifice

You provide the spirit, I will open up inside

Fill me up God, Fill me up God

Fill me up God, Fill me up

Fill me up God, Fill me up God

Fill me up God, Fill me up

We need more of you, yeah

Come on, let the sound of worship be released from your lips tonight

Come on, raise it now Oh, that's good y'all, raise it, raise it

You provide the fire, I'll provide the sacrifice

You provide the spirit, And I will open up inside

You provide the fire, I'll provide the sacrifice

You provide the spirit, I will open up inside

Fill me up God Fill me up God

Fill me up God, Fill me up

Fill me up God, Fill me up God

Fill me up God, Fill me up

We need more of you, yeah

Fill me up (lift your heads and say it)

Fill me up God Fill me up God

Fill me up God, Fill me up

Fill me up God, Fill me up God

Fill me up God, Fill me up

We need more of you, yeah

Fill me up 'Till I overflow

I wanna run over, I wanna run over

Fill me up 'Till I overflow

I wanna run over, I wanna run over

Fill me up 'Till I overflow

I wanna run over, I wanna run over

Fill me up 'Till I overflow

I wanna run over, I wanna run over

Fill me up God Fill me up God

Fill me up God, Fill me up

Fill me up God, Fill me up God

Fill me up God, Fill me up

We need more of you, yeah

Fill me up 'Till I overflow

I wanna run over, I wanna run over
