Song Meaning

Tasha Cobbs Leonard's “I Will Run” is a short prayer of desire for God. The words “all I want is You, all I crave is You” begin the song and are repeated as its anchor. They describe a desire that is not for gifts or answers, but for God himself, and they set the tone for the rest.

The singer then promises effort: “I will run the race set before me, I will seek Your face as the prize of my life.” The chorus echoes this with “I will run,” sung back by the choir. The bridge changes the image from running to thirst, “My soul pants for God and God alone.” Together the two pictures cover pursuit and longing. The text is brief, so the song relies on repetition and the voices that build behind the lead to carry its emotion. It is meant to be sung slowly, as a quiet commitment, with space for people to pray in their own words as it plays.

The race set before us is Hebrews 12:1. A soul panting for God is Psalm 42:1-2, and pressing toward the prize is Philippians 3:14.
