God So Loved

Tasha Cobbs Leonard and We The Kingdom sing “God So Loved,” an invitation set to a verse that begins with a call: “Come all you weary, come all you thirsty, come to the well that never runs dry.” The second verse widens the call to “sinners” who can “come find His mercy” and “come to the table, He will satisfy.” Each line ends with something to receive, such as water that quenches thirst, mercy, or goodness.

The chorus states the reason in the words of the gospel: “For God so loved the world that He gave us His one and only Son to save us, whoever believes in Him will live forever.” The third verse asks listeners to bring “your failures, your addictions” and lay them down “at the foot of the cross,” where Jesus waits “with open arms.” Hell's power is “forever defeated,” and the singer is “walking in freedom.” Near the end the Doxology and the old hymn “At the Cross” are quoted, with “the burdens of my heart rolled away.”
