Tasha Cobbs opens from a specific low point — 'you let me down, I was right there at the bottom, thought I was forgotten' — before the song's real claim arrives, and it's a quieter one than a full restoration story: 'when I'm in Your hands, there's no need for me to be whole.' The song doesn't promise the brokenness will be fixed before the closeness is offered; the two happen at the same time.

'When I'm broken, I know that You're close' echoes Psalm 34:18's promise that 'Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart,' naming proximity rather than repair as the actual comfort on offer. 'Don't know how, don't know when, don't know why, it's Your grace I'm living in' reaches for 2 Corinthians 12:9's claim that grace is 'sufficient... for my power is made perfect in weakness' — not explaining the difficulty away, just admitting the singer doesn't have to understand it to still be held through it.
