Even If

Losing is where Tim Timmons starts. "Right now I'm losing bad," he sings, after standing on a stage "night after night / Reminding the broken it'll be alright" and finding he cannot say it to himself. The first verse admits that a worship leader's reassurances can run dry, and the question it leaves hanging, "what will I say when I'm held to the flame," gives the song its stakes.

The chorus answers with a confession in two halves: "I know You're able and I know You can / Save through the fire with Your mighty hand," then the turn, "But even if You don't, my hope is You alone." That shape mirrors the three young men in Daniel 3 who told the king God could deliver them and that they would not bow even if He did not. The second verse takes up the mountain image of Matthew 17:20: a little faith "is all I have, right now," and if the mountains stay where they are, the request is for strength to sing "It is well with my soul."

Later lines name the cost plainly. "The sorrow" and "the hurt" would "all go away if You'd just say the word," and still the song lands on the kind of trust Habakkuk describes, rejoicing in the Lord when nothing visibly changes. A short stretch recalls past faithfulness ("You've been faithful, You've been good, all of my days") before the hymn line closes the song.
