Ride

Tommee Profitt's "Ride" trades the pulpit for the rodeo arena, building its whole world out of broncs, rank bulls, and dallying ropes. The narrator claims a king's heart and a refusal to be tamed, then measures worth the way a cowboy measures a rope — by the weight of his word. Images pile up fast: played in the mud, coming from the cut, spurs on his boots since day one, a hundred-degree pressure that never breaks him. The chorus turns that grit into a declaration, insisting everyone will know his name once he climbs aboard and tells the crowd to step aside. What keeps the song from being pure swagger is the team language running underneath it — "looking at we," the whole team running wild, nobody stopping us now. It reads less like a solo victory lap and more like a crew that survived something together and finally gets to ride out in the open. The repeated title line works as a release valve, a shout more than a sentence, and the track ends the way a good ride does: breathless, still moving, not quite ready to dismount.
