I Got You

Zach Williams writes this one almost entirely in a direct address, naming specific states rather than general struggle: "I know you're feeling the fire... buried in ashes... weathered and worn... feel abandoned like no one knows your pain." Each line functions as evidence the speaker actually sees the person, not a generic comfort.

The hook answers all of it the same simple way — "I get it, I got you, these hands will never drop you" — and grounds the promise in shared experience rather than distance: "there's nothing you could walk through that I haven't walked before."

The bridge removes the last excuse for hesitation: "you don't have to earn it, the work's already done." That's Paul's argument from Romans in different words — nothing in all creation, nothing a person could do, is able to separate someone from God's love. Moses told Israel the same thing before they crossed into unfamiliar territory: God would never leave or forsake them. Williams just puts the promise in first person and present tense.
