Zach Williams spends most of this song admitting doubt rather than resolving it — 'it's been a long time since I can tell,' 'I've been saying some words calling it prayer' undercuts the very act of praying even while doing it, a level of honesty most worship songs skip past. The waitress who 'bowed her head and prayed for me' and said 'God's still here, just wait and see' isn't presented as instantly convincing; the singer admits 'I can't say I'm sure she's right,' only that her small act 'got me through another night.'

The final verse doesn't erase the doubt so much as let a small certainty grow up alongside it: 'God, I know that You're still there... You're still here in this man now,' answering the title's own question without pretending the searching that preceded it wasn't real. Hebrews 13:5's promise that God will 'in no way leave you, neither in any way forsake you' isn't quoted, but it's the quiet claim underneath a song that spends most of its runtime looking rather than finding.
