Paradise
Song Meaning
Zach Williams' “Paradise” is a country-leaning song about the hope of heaven for people who are worn out. The opening lines describe a heavy heart and a spent head, someone doing his best just to catch his breath while life hits hard and makes no sense. He cannot see light, and the tunnel feels like it is closing in.
The chorus gives the answer: one day, when we leave this life, there will be no more pain and no tears to cry, and when we see his face the fears will fade away. The refrain says there is no trouble in paradise. The second verse tells the listener to hold on and not lose hope, since this world is not home, and the bruises on the soul will not be welcome on the streets of gold. It also tells the singer to raise a fist at the devil, since he has read Revelation and knows how the story ends. The last lines look ahead to the King coming back and the angels singing, “Worthy is the Lamb.” The warm vocal and steady beat make it a comfort song for funerals, hospital visits and anyone grieving or burned out. It points the tired to a place where all things are made new.
The end of tears and pain is Revelation 21:4. Citizenship in heaven is Philippians 3:20, and the worthy Lamb is Revelation 5:12.
Doing my best just to catch my breath
Pain-weary, nothing left
Life hits hard, and it don't make sense
I can't see the light, feels like this tunnel is closing in
And I keep feeling like this struggle ain't never gonna end, but
One day, when we leave this life
There'll be no more pain, no tears to cry
Everything's gonna be alright in paradise
One day, when we see His face
These fears will fade away
And no, there ain't no worry and there ain't no fight
'Cause there ain't no trouble in paradise
Ain't no trouble
Ain't no trouble
So hold on, don't lose hope
Remember this world is not our home
These bruises on our souls
Won't be welcome on the streets of gold
So raise your fist and tell that devil that he ain't gonna win
I've read that Revelation, and I know how this story ends, oh
One day, when we leave this life
There'll be no more pain, no tears to cry
Everything's gonna be alright in paradise
One day, when we see His face
These fears will fade away
And no, there ain't no worry and there ain't no fight
'Cause there ain't no trouble in paradise
Ain't no trouble
Ain't no trouble
We know our King is coming back
We know all things are gonna pass
Someday soon we'll hear the angels singing, "Worthy is the Lamb"
There's a place for me and you
Where He's making all things new
Someday soon we'll join the angels singing, "Worthy is the Lamb"
One day, when we leave this life
There'll be no more pain, no tears to cry
Everything's gonna be alright in paradise
One day, when we see His face
These fears will fade away
And no, there ain't no worry and there ain't no fight
'Cause there ain't no trouble in paradise
Ain't no trouble
Ain't no trouble
No, there ain't no trouble in paradise
Ain't no trouble
Ain't no trouble
No, there ain't no trouble in paradise
