Good Way

Traffic noise, expensive toys, “broken homes and self-made thrones”: the first verse lists a world moving “too fast” to remember what God’s love brings. A preacher’s remembered advice becomes the hook, built on a command to believe “in your heart / Right down to your soul,” speak the true things, and “find the good way / And walk in it.”

Verse two lifts the eyes to “saints of old and streets of gold” singing before the throne, and says plainly that “this world is not our home.” That promise gives the refrain’s “this might be the day” its urgency. A late section grows sharper, warning that “the world is falling down” while the sky breaks, the dead rise, and those alive in Him “will fly.”

The repeated “walk on” echoes the voice behind you in Isaiah 30:21 saying, “This is the way, walk in it.” Citizenship in heaven (Philippians 3:20) and the rising of the dead in Christ (1 Thessalonians 4:16) match the later verses. What results is an exhortation to daily faithfulness, driven by anticipation of Christ’s return.
