Gratitude

Brandon Lake admits upfront that he's out of material: "All my words fall short, I got nothing new." Gratitude opens by confessing the limits of language rather than performing eloquence, and that honesty becomes the song's whole engine — a worshiper with empty hands still choosing to show up.

The verses press the point further. He could keep singing the same songs, "as I often do," but every song ends while God doesn't — so the chorus settles for the smallest possible offering, a repeated hallelujah, because "I've nothing else fit for a king." By the third verse the response narrows to one move: arms stretched wide, no explanation needed.

The bridge turns the confession into a summons, coaxing a hesitant soul not to "get shy" and reminding it there's "a lion inside of those lungs." That's the same posture Hebrews 13:15 calls a sacrifice of praise — an offering made from the mouth, not from having something impressive to say. Psalm 34:1 and Psalm 150:6 land on the same idea: praise isn't earned by eloquence, it's owed by everything that still has breath.
