Brandon Lake builds "That's Who I Praise" almost entirely out of named examples rather than abstract praise — David, Paul and Silas, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, Moses, Daniel, Mary — each one given a single verb that defines their story: dance, sing, face the fire, walk through the waves, sleep in a lion's den. Paul and Silas specifically sang while imprisoned, and the earthquake that followed shook their chains loose, which is the kind of reversal the song keeps returning to — praise offered before the outcome, not after. Daniel's line does the same work, since the point of that story was never that the lions weren't dangerous but that he survived them anyway.
