Dream For You

Casting Crowns' “Dream For You” is told in God's voice, speaking to people in the Bible who had plans of their own. The first verse addresses David, who dreams of being a big-time shepherd and singing to cattle on a thousand hills. God says he has been thinking about a giant down the road, and that David is the one to face him. David is also told that his little shepherd songs will make the whole world sing and that he will be king.

The chorus is the invitation: “Come on, let Me dream, let Me dream for you. I am strong when you're weak and I'll carry you. So let go of your plan, be caught by My hand.” The second verse is spoken to Mary, who is making plans for a wedding and a picture-perfect family with Joseph. God replies that he had a plan before time began to save a broken world through one man, and that he will send his only Son. Mary was right that she would have a family, because she would raise a King. The closing lines turn to the listener, saying that if they only knew the plans God has for them, they would follow him. The song suits anyone facing a change they did not choose, and it encourages trust when a plan falls apart.
