Love You With The Truth

Casting Crowns' “Love You With The Truth” is about telling a friend about Jesus. The first verse confesses a lie the singer used to believe: that he is not a strong enough believer to take his friend's hand and lead them straight to Christ. He has been waiting for preachers, singers and teachers to string the perfect words together.

The chorus rejects that delay. “I can't call myself your friend and walk away. When we love, we earn the right to speak the truth. When we speak truth, we show the world we truly love.” He adds that he is not pointing a finger but holding out a hand, and that he is putting it all on the line to see God save his friend. The second verse spells out the message simply: God is love but also just, people are separated by sin, and the one who knew no sin became sin so we could be made right. It is not about religion, earning forgiveness, magic prayers or new behavior, but about the heart, where God meets you. The last verse is a prayer for courage for a silent faith to speak.
