Be Still And Know

CeCe Winans builds “Be Still And Know” on Psalm 46:10 and keeps the two halves of the verse together in the chorus: “I'll be still and know / Know You are God.” The first verse lists what has been survived (“many mountains,” trials, “many tears”) and answers with a refusal to be afraid even when “it all seems hopeless.”

The second verse is about nights rather than mountains: a heart that “feels anxious” and a voice that “calms every storm,” with the reminder arriving just when the crying goes on “all through the night.” The bridge switches from promise to description: “You're a well that never runs dry / No valley too deep / No mountain too high,” capped with “Lord, You're in control.” The outro slows to a plain resolve, “I'm not gonna move / Gonna be still.”

Psalm 46:10 supplies the title and Psalm 23:4, walking through the darkest valley without fear because God is near, matches the opening verse and the chorus line “You're right here with me / Through all my troubles.”
