Pray

CeCe Winans opens by naming a specific kind of shame: "I know that you think you can't pray after that mistake, but I know it's the only way you can make it better." The song doesn't argue the mistake away — it argues against the idea that the mistake disqualifies anyone from praying about it.

The verses stack up real reasons someone might avoid prayer: feeling like things have gone too far, waited too long, hurt too much to keep going. Philippians 4:6's instruction not to be anxious "about anything" but to bring "every situation" to God by prayer answers each one the same way — not by minimizing the pain, but by refusing to treat any of it as too much for prayer to hold.

The repeated line "I pray, you pray, we pray" turns prayer from a private last resort into something shared, which sets up the song's final move: it doesn't end on a chorus, it ends on the opening line of the Lord's Prayer itself — "our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name." Matthew 6:9 gives Jesus' own instruction for how to pray, and the song hands that exact prayer to the listener as the thing to say when there's nothing else left to say.
