The Coast Is Clear

CeCe Winans' “The Coast Is Clear” is an upbeat gospel invitation to put worry down. The chorus tells listeners to come and rest their souls because the presence of God is here now. The coast is clear, they do not have to worry, and the truth is that he is on their side.

The next lines say that his love was given as a guide, that there is nothing left to fear because he is saving, and that they should leave their fears behind. The verse speaks to a weeping brother, asking why he is crying and telling him to wipe away his tears, see the glory that lives within and take the perfect peace that only God can give. A line to the weary and heavy laden says to cast their fears on him so they can breathe again. The time is right now, with no hesitation, to claim the victory and enjoy the celebration. The song ends with a string of reasons to praise. Because of him they do not have to fear the dark night, they can dance in the sunlight and every day is a testimony. The final call is to lift hands, give him glory and sing hallelujah until the fade. It suits a service that wants to celebrate, a time of testimony or a playlist for a hard day.

Rest for the weary is Matthew 11:28. Casting all your care on him is 1 Peter 5:7, and the peace that guards the heart is Philippians 4:7.
