You Will

Grief sits at the center of CeCe Winans' "You Will," and the writing doesn't hurry past it. The opening lines mourn a loss ("another part of all of us is gone") and admit the limits of the singer's own comfort: "I am not able to feel what you feel." No quick fix is offered, only company beside someone who is hurting.

The chorus turns that honesty into a steady promise. "I believe you will" heal, the broken heart will mend, and a smile will return, but only if the sufferer "takes your time, for time is what it's gonna take." The imagery is small and domestic, a single morning when "there's one less tear." A later verse confesses that "to say that I understand is not enough" and that trust takes "a little while" to return, and the closing lines send the listener back toward "the garden" to find a way to restore a wounded heart.

Scripture holds the same posture. Psalm 147:3 describes God binding up the brokenhearted, Psalm 30:5 promises that joy comes with the morning, and Romans 12:15 models the kind of presence the song practices, weeping alongside those who weep.
