Come, Christians, join to sing
Alleluia! Amen
Loud praise to Christ we bring
Alleluia! Amen
Let all, with heart and voice
Before His throne rejoice
Praise is His gracious choice
Alleluia! Amen
Come sing of wondrous grace
Alleluia! Amen
What love that took our place
Alleluia! Amen
Christ, He the lamb was slain
Bearing our sin and shame
Yet triumphed o’er the grave
Alleluia! Amen
Come, lift your hearts on high
Alleluia! Amen
Let praises fill the sky
Alleluia! Amen
Christ is our guide and friend
He shall return again
His love shall never end
Alleluia! Amen
Praise yet to Christ our King
Alleluia! Amen
With all our voices ring
Alleluia! Amen
On heaven’s blissful shore
His goodness we’ll adore
Singing forevermore
“Alleluia! Amen!”
“Alleluia! Amen!”
“Alleluia! Amen!”

Song Meaning
A nineteenth-century text usually attributed to Christian Henry Bateman gets a fresh arrangement here from Zach White, performed by Keith & Kristyn Getty. Each verse repeats the same call-and-response shape — a line of praise followed immediately by 'Alleluia! Amen' — so the congregation's response is built into the song's structure itself, rather than added on top of it as an afterthought.
The second verse compresses the gospel into four lines: Christ 'the lamb was slain, bearing our sin and shame, yet triumphed o'er the grave,' a near-direct echo of 1 Peter 2:24's claim that Christ bore our sins in his own body on the tree. The final verses widen from what Christ has already done to what's still ahead — 'he shall return again,' sung on 'heaven's blissful shore' — so grief and hope end up sung in the same breath rather than the song settling for celebrating only the resurrection and stopping there.
