God is For Me

Short and confident, "God Is For Me" is built on one sentence repeated until it becomes a stance. Hezekiah Walker and Patrick Dopson sing it again and again, and it states what Romans 8:31 asks: if God is for us, who can be against us? Psalm 118:6 says nearly the same thing.

Before the hook, a few lines speak to the weary. "Oh my brother, you can look up, oh my sister, you've had enough, things are changing." The singers describe themselves as witnesses who say "sometimes we cry, we will win this by morning time," an image that matches Psalm 30:5 on weeping lasting for a night with joy in the morning. They advise "follow the plan at hand He has for you."

The pairing of troubles and promises is plain: "when in trouble, no despair, every challenge, I'm aware." Another line, "my position, understood, it's all working for my good," paraphrases Romans 8:28. The last promise, "and He will be there... as long as we are calling His name," keeps the lyric brief.
