The Will Of God

Hezekiah Walker opens "The Will Of God" naming confusion honestly — "there are so many things about the will of God, the things we don't understand because they seem so hard" — before ever offering resolution, refusing to pretend submission comes easily. "The way we choose only leads us further from the light" contrasts self-directed effort with the path being recommended instead.

"We must accept what God allows, and we must never try to tell Him how to order our lives" states the song's central instruction plainly, without softening the difficulty of actually doing it. "He's the one who made you, created you, saved you, and He knows what's best for you" stacks four separate roles — maker, creator, savior, knower — as the basis for that trust rather than asserting it without support.

"He won't put more on than you can bear" answers the earlier admission of hardship directly, naming a specific limit rather than open-ended endurance. The closing "His will is good, it is acceptable, and it's perfect" borrows Paul's own three-part description from Romans almost word for word, and the song's final repeated "yes" turns that borrowed theology into a personal, sung response rather than a recited doctrine.
