Christmas Hallelujah

December used to "Echo comfort and joy," the singer remembers, but lately every emotion "feels void." Highlands Worship are blunt about the season: friends are dividing, "Love's nowhere to be found," and the world is confusing enough that the singer catches themselves "losing / Hope it'll all turn around." The cure offered is not a mood but a story, "tell me the story of Jesus again."

That story fills the second verse. A "Babe in a manger" is a sign that the Savior "would suffer and die for my fall," and the child who changed the singer forever is "ever the King over all." The pre-chorus flips from asking to telling, so the listener who wanted the story is now handed it to pass along, with the promise that "He is our peace and He's coming again."

The refrain, "This is my Christmas hallelujah," gives way to a bridge of "Glory to God in the highest," the angels' song in Luke 2:14. Luke 2:11 (a Savior born) and Isaiah 9:6 (a child given, the Prince of Peace) sit behind the manger scene.
