One Way

Hillsong Kids gives “One Way” the posture of a prayer: “I lay my life down at your feet / You're the only one I need.” The verse stays close to the child's point of view, turning toward Jesus in “troubled times” and putting him first because “that's all I need,” and the hook repeats the title with the line “You're the only one that I could live for.”

The middle section lists what makes that trust reasonable. Jesus is “always, always there / Every how and everywhere,” his “grace abounds so deeply within me,” and “You will never ever change / Yesterday today the same / Forever till forever meets no end.” The closing lines turn to a verse almost word for word: “You are the way the truth and the light / We live by faith and not by sight.”

John 14:6, “I am the way and the truth and the life,” is the source of both the title and the closing couplet. Hebrews 13:8 says Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever, and 2 Corinthians 5:7 supplies “we live by faith, not by sight.”
