By Your Spirit

Influence Music and Kim Walker name the world's advice directly before rejecting it in "By Your Spirit" — "when the world says to hurry, we'll wait, we'll wait on the Lord... when the world says we gotta try harder, You give us Your rest." Each verse states the pressure clearly before answering it, rather than skipping straight to the response.

"Not by might, nor by power, only by, by your Spirit, not by struggle, or by striving only by Holy Spirit" quotes Zechariah directly and repeats it as the song's entire argument against self-reliance. "The burden is easy, and the yoke would be light, and the only fight that we'll be called to is to keep faith alive" borrows Jesus' own words about the nature of the task being asked.

"I don't need to muster up some kind of strength, cause you are the author, perfector of faith" closes the bridge by naming exactly what effort is being set down and why — not because effort is bad, but because it was never actually the source of the outcome.
