Sijaona Kama Wewe

Isaac Kahura's title line, 'sijaona Mungu kama wewe' (I have never seen a god like you), makes an odd but pointed claim — not that God is impressive, but that the singer has personally looked and found nothing comparable, which turns the song into testimony rather than doctrine. The verses build toward one specific piece of evidence for that claim: 'kwa neno mbingu na nchi viliumbwa' (by the word, heaven and earth were created), tying the uniqueness being sung about to the specific act of speaking creation into existence rather than a vague sense of God's greatness. The refrain 'hakujakuwa, hakutakuwa' (there has not been, there will not be) stretches the claim across all of time rather than just the present, which is echoed in the challenge the biblical prophets pose — asking to whom God could possibly be compared or likened.
