Spirit Of God

An open invitation begins this Spirit-centered worship song: "Our hearts are open wide, refine us with Your fire, Lord, we surrender, with worship we await. Spirit, have Your way, reveal Your glory." The verse adds a plain need, "we thirst for more, we thirst for more of You," close to the thirst of Psalm 63:1.

The chorus is a prayer addressed to the Spirit: "Spirit of God, Spirit of God, spring up a well in this place, let God arise, come and flood our lives, overflow in us." The well and the overflow follow John 7:38, where rivers of living water flow from those who believe.

The second chorus moves from water to wind, "Spirit of God, move like the wind in this place," which echoes the sound of Acts 2:2, and asks "let us see indescribable things," a hope in line with Ephesians 3:20. The bridge is wordless singing followed by a welcome, "you are welcome in this place," and the final chorus repeats the request to "come and move in us."
