Wait On The Lord

John Dreher sets up two ordinary fears before answering either one: "there is not a mountain too tall... there is not a problem so small that Jesus can't resolve." The pairing matters — the song insists God's attention scales both ways, covering the overwhelming and the trivial without picking favorites.

The chorus is almost a direct quote of Isaiah 40:31 — "wait on the Lord, and He will renew your strength" — stripped down to its bare instruction and repeated until it functions less like a lyric and more like a command the singer is practicing. "He's ordering your steps, you've got to wait" keeps the waiting active rather than passive, framing patience as participation in a plan already in motion.

The closing lines, "I'm gonna wait on You Jesus... I'm not turning back now," turn the song's whole argument into a decision rather than a feeling — waiting as something chosen once the strength has already started to return.
