Pressure

Jonathan McReynolds names a very specific, very modern version of an old problem: "I can't even turn on my phone without being reminded of the lie that I am alone and broken, unsuccessful." The pressure in this song isn't abstract performance anxiety — it's sourced, traced back to a screen, to friends with expectations, and eventually to church itself.

That last target is the song's most honest turn. "The pressure to be someone else that the church has made" admits something most worship music won't — that religious performance can carry the same weight as secular image-management, just dressed differently. "I thought my intentions were good, just act like a Christian should, and hope someone watching would approve" describes faith performed for an audience rather than lived for God.

The way out the song proposes is deliberately small and specific rather than triumphant: "help me be me, and only see you, let me decrease and glorify you." That's a direct echo of John the Baptist's own words about Jesus — decreasing isn't defeat here, it's relief, the moment the performance finally gets to stop.
