Breathe

"This goes out to the worried, this goes out to the stressed," the first verse says, naming people "sorting out a million thoughts running through your head" and "everyone that's waiting for better days ahead." The pre-chorus gives a simple instruction, "please don't hold your breath," and the chorus supplies the action: "Breathe."

Breathing becomes a reason for praise. "It's a miracle we can breathe, there's power in the way that we breathe, release the heavy burden, and let everything that has breath praise the Lord" comes straight from Psalm 150:6, and "this is why we have breath" points back to Genesis 2:7. The call to release the burden fits 1 Peter 5:7 about casting cares on God.

The second verse is realistic about weather in a life: "sometimes you're in the desert, sometimes you feel the pain, sometimes He calms the storm, sometimes He lets it rain," a line that echoes Mark 4:39 and Jesus' stilling of the storm. The bridge is physical, with "I can feel my lungs taking air again" and "I can feel my strength coming back again." A closing note describes the Tribl project, where artists with different stories share new worship sounds.
