Red and Green

Jonathan McReynolds dresses a Christmas party in team colors. The verses hand out holiday scenes, "Hang the holly," "Sing your carols," a memory of "your favorite silent night," and ask that "every shadow give way to the light of love." The hook turns into a pep rally: "Let's hear it one time for our favorite team / We put on for the newborn King," followed by rounds of "Fa la la" and "We go up for the red and green."

The second half widens the invitation. He calls "to the children from everywhere / Young and old, rich or poor, black or white, who cares?" and notes that "there's enough team apparel for us to share." A snowball fight in the park has "no winner or losers it's just good times." A brief break, "'Tis the season, to be jolly / We got a reason," points toward the reason the team shows up, and the song names it each time through the hook as the newborn King.

Luke 2:11 announces that Savior born in David's town, Isaiah 9:6 names the child a Prince of Peace, and Galatians 3:28 backs the song's guest list, where social lines stop mattering around Christ.
