Praise Is My Weapon

Jonathan Nelson turns the language of spiritual warfare into a shout of defiance, casting the believer as a soldier enlisted in God's army and armed for battle. The opening lines repeat like a marching cadence, declaring the intent to pull down strongholds, before the song names its equipment: armor, sword, and shield, paired with the boast of being "armed and dangerous." The twist is that none of this hardware is literal — the refrain lands on the plain claim that praise itself is the weapon, chanted four times over to drive the point home. From there the song shifts from declaration to testimony, with call-and-response lines insisting that praise fights on the singer's behalf and delivers victory. The repetition is deliberate, building momentum the way a congregation might lock into a groove and refuse to let it go. There is no narrative arc or quiet verse here, just a single idea hammered into a hook. The closing insistence that praise brings victory keeps the focus on what the singer gains from worship rather than on the battle's cost.
